What are Sundays for? Well, before we had kids they were for sleeping. ? But now they are for meal prepping, laundry, groceries, and you name it! ?
Once a month I try to make sauces and chutneys I’ll need during the week. Last week I made my lemony garlic sauce. I add this to Mediterranean dishes, grilled meats, and as a topping on my sandwiches. It’s so simple to make and it stays fresh in the fridge for up to a month if kept in an air tight container!
Recipe
Lemon Garlic Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup of fresh, cleaned garlic cloves (cut into pieces)
- 1/2 - 1 cup of fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp of lemon zest
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- 1-2 teaspoons of salt
- Sumac for garnish and an extra pop of flavor
Instructions
Start by adding your garlic cloves into the food processor and chopping them until they become smooth.
Then add your salt, lemon zest, a couple of tbsp of lemon juice and continue to chop and mix.
The lemon juice is great because it keeps the garlic from oxidizing.
Scrape down the sides, and slowly start adding the oil as you’re chopping the garlic and making it into a purée.
Once it looks like a paste, you can transfer the sauce into a bowl.
Mix a little bit of lemon juice at a time until you feel it’s garlicky and lemony enough to your liking.
Sprinkle with sumac and serve, or keep it in the fridge to add as the perfect condiment! Enjoy! ??
